OOC-Celebrating 4 Years RPing as Sheriff Northman on Twitter (From Erik’s Writer)
I don’t usually spend a lot of time writing OOC because Erik has such a presence that he mostly likes to speak for himself, but today commemorates an important day: The day I decided to start playing Erik or Eric with the traditional C, as I originally called him, on Twitter, on this day, September 12th, in 2009. A man who is very different from me, but who I have infused with little bits of my personality and likes over the years to make my version different, blending Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball’s visions into a unique world of mine and my RP partner’s creation.
The landscape of Twitter RP, and the world of True Blood has changed drastically during the last four years. I now share a face with countless talented RPers who have put their own twist on the often complicated character of Eric Northman. Despite what some may think, there is no one “right” way to play him. I have much more to say on this subject, but I will keep it short and say that I do enjoy reading other’s storylines when I have the time.
I have made a large number of RP acquaintances over the years: friends that became enemies, and enemies that became friends. Many of those friends no longer RP, or no longer use the characters where I originally met them. To a select few: I’ll always appreciate the times you’ve let me talk for hours about anything and everything. Those important people, those that are still here, know who they are. And to those that are long gone into the ether, I will always remember the times we talked on the TL and all of the craziness that we had with random storylines.
The most important person who I met during my RP tenure, the most important person in my life is my RP partner, the woman behind Erik’s wife, Natalie. The one who has stuck with me through many, many late nights of roleplaying and has held my hand through every plot twist, as our RP universe grew and grew and grew. Whose very creative brain and musical spirit carved out endless days of fun and complex storylines that bridged years. She’s the one who makes me smile, and laugh, and experience all of the emotions life has to offer, and I know she’ll always be there.
K, I love you, through all of the good days and the bad ones, even when that all important “Dark Side” comes out. Without you, I would have stopped playing Erik about two months into the whole thing. (You know the story well.) Without you, there would be no six human children, no progenies, and no countless others in our very special “Alternate Universe” we’ve created. You are an amazing writer and an incredible and unique woman, who I thank destiny every day for having led me to you. Every journey has a first step, and I’ll never regret taking that first step toward you. Jag älskar dig, älskling, alltid. <3
